New York City Legislation Limits Use of Credit Information in Employment

Many states will see their legislative sessions end in the coming weeks, which means that there is the potential for new laws that might affect business once implemented.

One recent example of this type of legislation comes from New York City which plans to ban the use of credit history for making employment decisions, though certain exemptions are granted.

These include instances where it is required by law, for brokerage houses, if security clearance is required, for access to trade secrets, or with signatory authority in excess of $10,000.
