As a consumer reporting agency (CRA), HireRight compiles a great range of information on job candidates from which employers can make better-informed hiring decisions. The candidate’s education, previous employment, criminal history, motor vehicle records and other data may be accessed. The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) along with state statutes regulate these employment background checks.
Employers should understand that their use of the results HireRight and other CRAs produce in making an employment-related decision must comply with all applicable requirements. They should also stay abreast of other legislation being passed at the federal, state, county and municipal level.
