Truck drivers have a 50% higher rate of diabetes than the national average. That's largely due to the sedentary nature of truck driving which contributes to obesity and the lack of physical activity, which also may increase the risk of Type 2 diabetes.
Diabetes can be a hard disease to manage at home and even more difficult when traveling. Drivers with diabetes have all of the "normal challenges" that every driver experiences, along with the added stress of managing their disease. That's where employers can help.
