Dennis Dracup

Dennis Dracup

HireRight's Chairman of the Board and an operating partner of Providence Equity Partners

Dennis Dracup is HireRight's Chairman of the Board and an operating partner of Providence Equity Partners. Prior to joining the HireRight Board in 2014, Mr. Dracup was most recently executive chairman of Language Line Services, the world’s largest language interpretation company. Mr. Dracup also served as CEO of Language Line Services from 2001 to 2011. Before that, Mr. Dracup held various senior management positions, including CEO of Gemkey.com, president of Pitney Bowes Software Solutions, and vice president and general manager of Moore Business Communication Services.

Mr. Dracup received a Master of Business Administration from the State University of New York, a Master of Science from Roosevelt University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Canisius College.

Chief Executive Officer

John Fennelly, chief executive officer for HireRight, leads the company with a strategic vision and strong operational expertise. Throughout his career, he has grown and transformed technology enabled businesses by forging deeper connections with customers and partners, developed global markets, and championed product innovation. Before joining HireRight, Fennelly headed up the wealth management division at Thomson Reuters, where he integrated a number of businesses and drove strong organic growth. Prior to that, he held a number of leadership positions with Xeye, Financial Models Co., Sungard Data Services, and Smith Barney. Fennelly holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hartwick College.

Tom Spaeth

Tom Spaeth

Chief Financial Officer

Tom Spaeth, chief financial officer for HireRight, brings more than 20 years of experience in corporate finance, accounting, investment banking, operations, and business development in the technology, consumer, and banking industries. Prior to Hireright, Spaeth served as CFO at UBM Technology, where he oversaw accounting, finance, sales operations, client delivery, and IT. Additional experience includes corporate finance, consulting, and investment roles at Motorola, Ernst & Young, and Deutsche Bank where he successfully led companies through funding growth, organizational change and international expansion.

Spaeth holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance from the University of Wisconsin and a Master’s in Business Administration from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University.

Catherine Aldrich

Catherine Aldrich

Vice President of Operations

Catherine Aldrich joined HireRight in November 2009 as Vice President of Operations. Ms. Aldrich is responsible for leading HireRight’s background screening service delivery functions, as well as overseeing HireRight’s consumer compliance departments. With a focus on continuous process improvement, Ms. Aldrich also steers HireRight’s operational excellence teams.

Ms. Aldrich came to HireRight from Accurate Background, where she was Executive Vice President as well as Corporate Compliance Officer relating to all federal and state/local credit reporting laws. Prior to joining Accurate Background, she held the position of Vice President of Product Management at ChoicePoint from 1996–2000.

Ms. Aldrich has served on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS) and has been a member of several professional organizations including the NAPBS Background Screening Credentialing Council (BSCC) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Gregg Freeman

Vice President and Deputy General Counsel

Gregg Freeman is the Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of HireRight, with primary responsibility for company legal, compliance and contract functions.

Mr. Freeman joined HireRight in April 2004 as Associate General Counsel, and in January 2010, was appointed Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. Before joining HireRight, Mr. Freeman was the Associate General Counsel of Interplay Entertainment Corp., a publicly traded computer entertainment software company. Prior to Interplay, Mr. Freeman was an associate with Brown, Winfield & Canzoneri, a business law firm located in Los Angeles, CA.

Mr. Freeman earned his undergraduate degree in Communications from UCLA, his Juris Doctorate from the UCLA School of Law, and his Master's Degree in Business Administration in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management.

Steve Girdler

Managing Director, EMEA

Steve Girdler is HireRight’s Managing Director for EMEA responsible for growing HireRight’s client base and capabilities in the region with offices in the UK, Poland and Estonia. 

Steve joined HireRight in April 2013 from a background in executive management, business development, marketing and product development with expertise in the resourcing, HR solutions and professional services industries. He has worked for KPMG as well as some of the largest names in the resourcing and outsourcing industry such as Manpower, Kelly Services and Adecco. In his most recent role at Adecco he was Director of London 2012, a three year endeavor that included the successful recruitment and delivery of 8,300 staff for the Olympic games as well as the management of the Adecco Olympic sponsorship. The project was lauded in the media and Government for delivering the most diverse and inclusive games ever through the development of innovative tools and programs.

Edward Hickey

Managing Director, Asia Pacific

Ed Hickey is the managing director for the Asia Pacific region of HireRight, a leading provider of global employment screening. Ed has more than 12 years of experience in the hiring and employment background screening industry.

Ed joined HireRight when HireRight’s parent company Altegrity, acquired Kroll Inc. in 2010, having previously been part of Kroll’s Background Worldwide business since 2002. During this time Ed has held a wide range of leadership roles in operations, customer support and account management. His extensive international experience includes assisting many major organizations implement and improve their screening solutions, setting up new operations and growing the business across the EMEA and APAC regions.

In January 2014, Mr. Hickey was appointed his current role, based in HireRight’s regional headquarters in Singapore. As managing director of the company’s Asia Pacific business, Ed is responsible for leading the sales, marketing and client support teams across the region with employees in India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and the Philippines. Since taking on the role, he has been instrumental in growing the customer base, launching a regional customer service function and further developing localised, market-leading product offerings for the Asia Pacific market.

Tony Magro

Vice President of Sales

Tony Magro first joined HireRight as a Director of Enterprise Sales when HireRight’s parent company, Altegrity, acquired Kroll Inc. Mr. Magro was with Kroll’s Risk Consulting Group in July of 1998 when Kroll acquired Mr. Magro’s former employment screening company, LSI Inc., where he served as a business development manager in employment risk analysis with an emphasis on employment screening. In this capacity, he assisted a wide range of organizations develop and implement their employment screening initiatives including government agencies, industrial organizations, labor organizations, and commercial enterprises throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Presently, Mr. Magro focuses on sales strategy and execution leading to new customer acquisition across the large, mid-market and small business sales teams. Prior to joining HireRight, Mr. Magro spent nearly 20 years in the employment screening field in various capacities from policy consultant through Managing Director positions. Duties included design, development, and implementation of national and international employment substance abuse screening and employment background investigation programs. Furthermore, Mr. Magro helped design and implement substance abuse testing programs for the US Federal Judiciary via the Administrative Office of the US Courts.

Mr. Magro holds a B.S. in Biology from Colorado College.

Dan Shoemaker

Dan Shoemaker

Senior Managing Director, EMEA and APAC

Dan Shoemaker joined HireRight in September 2010 and as Senior Managing Director he leads HireRight’s EMEA and APAC business including market strategy and development, business development, client support, and the delivery of HireRight solutions based in London.

Prior to HireRight, Mr. Shoemaker was with Altegrity company USIS, where he served as director of the Central Business Unit, with responsibility for field operations of more than 550 investigators, covering 14 states. Prior to this role, he served USIS in corporate development and business development roles, originally joining the company in 2002. Prior experience includes serving as Assistant Secretary of Transportation for the Commonwealth of Virginia and managing government affairs for the National Air Transportation Association, based in Alexandria, Virginia.

Active within the background screening industry, Mr. Shoemaker served as the 2009-2010 Chairman of the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS). As Chairman of NAPBS, one of his key accomplishments was the expansion of the association internationally, overseeing the development of chapters in Europe and Asia-Pacific regions to meet the new demands of a globalizing industry.

Mr. Shoemaker holds an MBA from the McDonough School of Business, Georgetown University, and a BA in Geography from Virginia Tech.

Steven Spencer

Steven Spencer

Vice President of Transportation

Steven Spencer joined HireRight in January of 1999. Mr. Spencer has more than 21 years of experience in sales and public facing positions. In 2000 he led a project to develop an account management program for the top trucking customers of DAC Services. In 2001 he became the manager for all aviation accounts and continues to act as one of the company’s aviation subject matter expert. As HireRight revitalized our focus on transportation, Mr. Spencer was promoted to the Director of Transportation Sales to lead this effort. In his role as Director Mr. Spencer was responsible for leading account management, large and midsized business development and industry relations for the trucking and transportation sectors of the business. In his current role Mr. Spencer oversees the transportation center of excellence as General Manager and represents the transportation business line with the broader HireRight executive team.

Before HireRight, Mr. Spencer held management positions with Commercial Financial Services. In his role there he developed the standard operating procedure for portfolio management and led groups in both operations and collections. Before joining Commercial Financial Services he spent 7 years in retail sales and management for Radio Shack stores.

Mr. Spencer holds a B.S. in Environmental Science with an emphasis in management and compliance from Missouri Southern State University.

Rachel Trindade

Vice President of Marketing

Rachel Trindade joined HireRight in 2004 and was named Vice President of Marketing in March 2013. She is responsible for leading HireRight’s Marketing, Field Operations, and Business Development functions, focusing on branding strategy and demand generation execution leading to new customer acquisition across the large, mid-market, and small business markets. Previously at HireRight, Ms. Trindade led the integration of the Go-to-Market functions during the USIS, NDI, Powerchex, and Kroll mergers/acquisitions. She also built HireRight’s field operations and sales engineering organizations, and led Global Market Development to better support the requirements of major multinational organizations. She also pioneered and launched the HireRight Benchmarking Survey, the first ever survey and report of its kind in the background screening industry. Before joining HireRight, Ms. Trindade served as the Market Segment Manager for MGE UPS Systems (a subsidiary of Schneider Electric), where she launched the first fuel cell powered UPS into the market and managed the inverter and power conditioner product lines.

Ms. Trindade began her career in product management and cooperative advertising at a major computer supplies distributor. She supported the spin off and IPO of PFSweb, a leading eCommerce and Business Process Outsourcer through various corporate communications, marketing, and client services management roles.

Ms. Trindade holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
