Life at HireRight: Recognizing Our 2020 #CustomerFirst Award Winner

Here at HireRight, our teams work hard to build the future of screening services while striving to put the customer first. Internally, we rally around a culture committed to collaboration, service-first mindset, sense of ownership, and other corporate values to help employers get it right – every time, everywhere. But what is it like to work here? And who are the employees behind our background screening and workforce solutions?

Going forward, we are spotlighting what #LifeAtHireRight means for our team members – in their words. Today we start with our 2020 Customer First Award Winner, Kevin Ho. Kevin joined HireRight in 2006 and today is in Account Management out of our Singapore office. He was recently recognized by both HireRight’s leadership team and his peers for his commitment to listening to customers, seeing challenges through to resolution, and getting it right for his clients.

We sat down with Kevin and asked him to share a little about his life at HireRight, his role, and some of his favorite parts about working in customer service.

Kevin, congrats on your recent recognition! Can you tell us a little about your role?

Kevin: I started my career with HireRight as the Chinese Verification Researcher in California and now am an Account Manager based out of Singapore. My role consists of providing escalation support for large accounts in APAC and leading the Account Coordinator team.

What is your proudest moment at HireRight?

Kevin: Beyond my recent recognition, I have been so proud to witness HireRight’s journey of APAC expansion and participate in this achievement. Over the years, HireRight has grown our team across all functions in the Asia Pacific region, with over 300 team members spread across six countries, and a wide range of regional language capabilities. With a strong presence of both operational and management teams in region, we are helping to grow the business and increase visibility for HireRight in APAC.

How have you grown with HireRight? And what brought you to Singapore?

 When I started my career with HireRight back in 2006, we were a team of 6-7 members working nightshift in an office. Later I decided to move back to Taiwan in 2008, working at home as regional support for our APAC customers. This was also where I met my wife and got married in 2012. In 2019, we officially moved to Singapore and I became an Account Manager. Now, I am part of a team of 100+ members across HireRight Offices in Singapore, India, Manila, Hong Kong, Australia, and Japan.

What is it like to work in the HireRight Singapore office? 

Working in Singapore has been a great experience! Our Singapore office is located in Suntec, in the heart of Singapore Central. We have an excellent view of Downtown Singapore with an ocean view, giving it a relaxed feel, during and after work. The night view was also amazing with a view of the high-rise skyline. Since I have worked at home most of my career with HireRight, staring at a neighbour’s wall, this is definitely something new for me.

I was able to work with other colleagues in the office and enjoy after-work gatherings. After working at home for so many years, and only seeing my colleagues on business trips, it was great to see my team face to face!

What does #CustomerFirst mean to you?

 To me, putting the customer first means always being responsive to our clients.  As Account Managers, we often get urgent inquiries from our existing customers.  My job is to understand their challenges, work internally with the team to address them and offer a solution if appropriate, and provide proactive updates throughout the process.

What is the best part about working with customers?

 I love helping clients get their candidates hired! Clients often reach out to us needing to hire a potential candidate quickly and seek professional advice from us. I love to hear clients share positive feedback about how our work helped them find the right person for the right opportunity on their teams. It keeps me motivated, knowing that they are being helped.

I know 2020 was a tough year for many people and businesses. Hopefully, 2021 will be a better year for all of us, where we can spend time with loved ones and families and have our lives back to normal. Stay safe!
