Global Human Rights Policy
HireRight Holdings Corporation and its subsidiaries (collectively, “we,” “our,” or “HHC”) are committed to upholding the highest standards of human rights and social responsibility. This policy is intended to summarize the principles we use to guide our conduct. We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive workplace environment, and we believe that all Team Members should be afforded the same opportunities to realize their goals, both personal and professional, without fear of discrimination on the basis of any legally protected characteristic.
COMMITMENT TO HUMAN RIGHTS
HHC is committed to the UN Global Compact in pursuit of the well-being of all its Team Members and the global community. HHC adopts the principles below outlined in the UN Global Compact for establishing a culture of human integrity:
We support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights;
We are not, and we endeavor to ensure that no person or entity with whom we do business is complicit in human rights abuses;
We uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
We support the elimination of all forms of forced or compulsory labor;
We support the effective abolition of child labor;
We support the elimination of unlawful discrimination in employment and occupation;
We support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
We undertake (and will continue to undertake) initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility;
We encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies; and
We work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery. The Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact derive from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labour Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, and the United Nations Convention Against Corruption, all of which we support. HHC also adheres to the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
HUMAN SLAVERY, CHILD LABOR, AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING
HHC opposes – and does not directly or indirectly engage in – slavery, child labor, and human trafficking in all its forms and makes a voluntary statement against it according to section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act of 2015. HHC has a zero-tolerance policy position on slavery, child labor, and human trafficking and conducts due diligence and a risk assessment to avoid slavery, child labor, and human trafficking in our supply chains.
Our employees and supply chain partners are mostly made up of background screening professionals, and we require certain members of our leadership team and Team Members responsible for recruiting/sourcing and managing our supply chain to complete annual training on modern slavery as a module within our compliance training program. We believe the risk of
modern slavery in our supply chain is low because our employees and vendors who specialize in technology-driven workforce risk management and compliance solutions are generally more highly compensated and therefore are at a lower risk of being subject to forced labor or the other traditional forms of exploitation.
Nonetheless, HHC encourages reporting of any suspected exploitation through our internal Compliance Hotline. More information on our ongoing commitment to comply with the Modern Slavery Act of 2015 and other equivalent legislation globally can be found at https://www.hireright.com/legal/modern-slavery-statement/.
FAIR LABOR PRACTICES, LABOR HEALTH & SAFETY
HHC is an equal opportunity employer and prohibits unlawful discrimination at any time throughout the hiring process and during employment. Our compensation packages are competitive, equitable, and aligned with each Team Member’s performance. HHC respects the rights of its employees to agree, voluntarily and without coercion, to the terms of their employment and to terminate it freely, and complies with applicable laws on the retention of, and employees’ access to, employment documentation relating to immigration or work authorization. Further, HHC will not knowingly do business with any contractor, vendor, or partner who violates the previous principles.
HHC is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace environment for all Team Members and visitors. HHC posts information on safety and health protection on the job in global offices and expects Team Members to use best practices in the workplace to prevent harm to themselves or others. We encourage Team Members to report all health and safety concerns to their direct superior or Human Resources.
HHC also posts, as required by law, information on local labor laws in all our office locations to inform our Team Members of their rights at work, including how to file a complaint or otherwise report violations of those rights. Further, employees who work from home have access to these materials through HHC’s intranet and the internal Human Resources portal.
HHC prohibits all forms of unlawful harassment in the workplace. HHC believes that all Team Members should be treated with respect and should not fear their work environment due to the unlawful behavior of others. Reports of harassment made in good faith are treated seriously, and unlawful harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.
DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION
HHC knows that a diverse and engaged workforce is essential to our success and is thus committed to fostering a community built on inclusion and belonging at all levels. To further this goal, HHC has created Team Member Resource Groups and Affinity Groups, led by Team Members from all departments across the world, and formed an Inclusion Council comprised of representatives from these Resource Groups, along with our Vice President of Human Resources. These groups identify development opportunities for Team Members in underrepresented groups, share resources, and give back to the community through donations to organizations that support the causes that matter most to each group.
HHC also looks for opportunities to use small and diverse businesses, agencies, and institutions (women-owned, veteran-owned, LGBTQ-owned, and nonprofit agencies, to name a few) in its practice of engaging qualified vendors and suppliers.
More information on our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives may be found in our most recent ESG Report at https://www.hireright.com/company/environmental-social-governance.
REPORTING VIOLATIONS OF THE GLOBAL HUMAN RIGHTS POLICY
HHC encourages our Team Members to report suspected violations of this Global Human Rights Policy and has implemented an internal Compliance Hotline website on our website available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Team Members can also report any concerns to their direct People Leader or a member of the Human Resources department. HHC prohibits retaliation against Team Members who report or help report what they believe in good faith to be a violation of this Global Human Rights Policy. When suspected violations are substantiated, HHC will take appropriate action, which may include termination of employment or cooperation with law enforcement.
