Full & Limited Query Options for the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse

HireRight’s Clearinghouse product provides a quick and easy solution for employers that are required to query the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse database to check that their current or prospective drivers are not prohibited from operating a commercial motor vehicle due to drug and alcohol program violations (49 CFR Part 382, Subpart B).

Manually querying the Clearinghouse database can be quite time consuming. HireRight simplifies the ordering process for employers by offering multiple query options.

  1. Pre-employment Query – provides detailed information about any drug and alcohol program violation in a driver’s Clearinghouse record. Any information added to the database within 30 days after the order date will be reported to the employer.
  2. Full Query – allows employers to view drug and alcohol program violations in the driver’s Clearinghouse record.
  3. Limited Query – determines if a driver has a violation in the Clearinghouse. The report will contain a “no record found” or “record found” response. If data is found a full query is required.
  4. Limited Query with Automatic Consent Request – automates the ordering process when a limited query comes back with a record found. HireRight will provide record details once the driver has provided their electronic consent directly to the Clearinghouse.
